I have been reading your definitions of science fiction that are up around the school. Fascinating stuff and you all have put so much thought into your work. Here is a quote from a very old edition of A Journey to the Centre of the Earth about the author Jules Verne (this edition will soon be in our library for all you sci-fi fans out there):
"Many people have said the Verne 'invented the future'. They may be right, for Verne 'invented' the submarine in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, space travel in From the Earth to the Moon, heavier-than-air flying machines in The Clipper of the Clouds, and around-the-world travel in Around the World in 80 Days."This quote is a little scary when you think about the kinds of stuff we read about now in modern sci-fi books - humanoid experiments for one! Yikes.
